Frequently Asked Questions

How did you learn to draw?
Yes! Rarely. I have had two very small booths at Ai-kon in the past, and I plan to greatly improve my setup + stock for the future and continue vending.

Where are you located?

WPG Manitoba, Canada.
Do you ever booth at conventions?
Consistency and frequency, I am self taught. Putting paper up to the TV or a computer screen and tracing the lines as a child, studying various art styles of those I look up to, and much, much, trial and error. You have to go through a lot of hell to get somewhere good. Learn to draw the things you don’t like so you can be good at drawing the things you do. Find ways to make the boring parts fun, your art style should develop naturally the more you continue to draw. Learn the basics so you can break them with skill and knowledge. My art style has heavy early 2000’s influence as it’s what I grew up with, and what feels right for me. I make a point to try out different techniques and styles in order to familiarize myself with them and advance my skill as an artist, I am always looking to widen my horizons to improve. Art became my escape from reality, and something that will always be a part of me.
What do you use to draw?
Digitally:

I’ve used Paint Tool Sai for a large chunk of my life, but currently I use Clip Studio Paint for pretty much everything. I draw with my IPad Pro 11, + stylus, and a Huion Kamvas Pro 16 plugged into a regular ol’ Lenovo laptop.
Traditionally:
Copic markers, any kind of pencil crayon. I like water activated pencil crayons, and watercolour/ acrylic paints as well. I find being a traditional artist is quite expensive. Sometimes I use washi tape to add accents of detail. I am more skilled digitally.
How long have you been drawing?
Way too long. Typical answer you hear a lot, but ever since I could hold a pencil. Literally since toddler age, and I never stopped. I’ve been online embarrassingly long and made my first art account on instagram in 2012.
What inspires you?
2000’s anime culture, and early internet niches. When I was in elementary I would listen to Nightcore on the old computer and stare endlessly at the cutesy anime girls in the thumbnails. I decided I wanted to draw characters like that. A lot of those visuals came from Japanese visual novels, which naturally sparked my interest in that genre of game, as well as Japanese art and culture. My art style is an amalgamation of many styles from various artists I have loved and obsessed over for years, taking little bits of inspiration from each of them to form something completely unique to me.
Who are you outside the screen?
...Great question!
Here's my face, make your assumptions. No generative AI is used in any of my artworks, just human me.
What is your drawing process?
I usually start off with an insanely rough sketch which I go over multiple times until I make it as clean as possible, sometimes I'll throw concept colours underneath a sketch so I have a general idea of what the finished piece may look like. I utilize the stabilizer function to make thin and precise linework, and colour the lines a hue darker of whatever colour they accompany in the flat base. Once linework and base colours are established, I continue on to shading  which can vary from piece to piece, but is usually done either all on one layer, or in a series of meticulously separated layers. Taking advantage of Clip Studio's customizable brushes and material add-ons.
